A Letter from Austin Win
In 2013 when I became a Registered Dietitian, I was also a personal trainer who worked with many people who had old injuries. One of my very first clients I worked with was 65 years old and she worked with me for about 7 years. She's the main reason why I wanted to go into Physical Therapy.
When I first met her she was really overweight, had some back and knee problems and as a trainer I didn’t know a whole lot as I do now as a physical therapist. I was able to help her lose some weight, stay in shape, feel great and improve her strength so that she can keep her independence and mobility. I realized that I loved working with people like her and I wanted to learn how to rehabilitate people with their injuries on an internal and external level.
I believe in a holistic approach and I figured there were a lot more people out there who could improve their health with good nutrition and physical therapy. I went through PT school through the lens of a dietitian and I realized that hardly any information was given on nutrition or any aspect of internal rehabilitation using food as your medicine.
I’m on a mission to help people in physical therapy dominate their health and nutrition to accelerate their recovery when injured without traditional yo-yo dieting. I believe in a holistic approach to healing, and nutrition is definitely a powerful element for truly creating a change in the human body.
